The Juvenile Unit consists of a Lieutenant who handles all investigations involving persons under the age of 18 that are involved in criminal activity and co‐participate with CIU detectives for all physical and sexual abuse complaints involving children.

Juvenile Liaison Officers also act as liaison with county and state child protection and assistance agencies and with parents of delinquent children focusing on their rehabilitation.

Juvenile Liaison Officers are certified as instructors for New Jersey LEAD Program (Law Enforcement Against Drugs) which is taught to 5th grade students of the Carlstadt Public School. The program is concluded with an annual dance and graduation ceremony.
