Patrol Division
The largest component of the department — uniformed first responders on the street 24 hours a day.
About the division
The Patrol Division is the largest component of the police department. It is comprised of uniformed first responding officers with an assigned tour of duty. The division consists of four squads managed by supervisor officers having the rank of Lieutenant and Sergeant and three to four patrol officers.
The Patrol Division is responsible for receiving and respond to all criminal and service oriented calls that occur within the borough, as well as providing assistance to bordering agencies as needed.
The Patrol Officer is designated a patrol area either on foot, motorcycle, or patrol vehicle to provide assistance and protection for persons, to safeguard property, to assure observance of the law, and to apprehend law‑breakers.
With exception to the agency administration and CIU detectives, all of the agency’s subsequent units are comprised of members from the Patrol Division.
Four squads
Each managed by a Lieutenant and Sergeant with three to four patrol officers.
All calls for service
Receives and responds to all criminal and service oriented calls in the borough.
Foot, motorcycle, vehicle
Officers patrol assigned areas on foot, by motorcycle or in a patrol vehicle.
Mutual aid
Provides assistance to bordering agencies as needed.
